T/Th Kinder Rowing

For Students in Grades 4 through 7

Kinder Boats

The German boats we use for this age group are scaled down versions of full sized racing boats. They are called Kinder Boats in reference to the general age group they fit. In Europe, rowers start learning to row and develop boat feel from about 8 years of age.  Boats and oar load are sized specifically for small, young, growing bodies.

Development

At this age we focus exclusively on sculling: 1x’s, 2x’s and 4x’s. We will practice rowing forwards and backwards. We’ll try out fun boat balancing skills, navigate obstacle courses, and learn how to turn the boat while moving and while stationary. As proficiency increases, we will row further distances and explore the ship canal from the Fremont Bridge to the Locks.

Requirements

Float test and Waiver.
